We're back with another betting prediction and pick for UFC St. Louis as the Prelims continue with this next bout in the Welterweight (170) Division. Fierce competitors will square-off as Connecticut's Billy Goff will face Florida's Trey Waters. Check out our UFC odds series for our Goff-Waters prediction and pick.

Billy Goff (9-2) will be making his second UFC appearance following a win in his debut over a dangerous prospect in Yusaka Kinoshita. Through his debut and Contender Series win, Goff has impressed and risen above expectations as he looks to make another statement in this fight. Goff stands 5'10” with a 72.5-inch reach.

Trey Waters (8-1) is also unbeaten through one UFC contest as he took down Josh Quinlan in a massive upset during his debut. With six of his wins coming by way of finish, Waters immediately made himself a name to watch in the division with his last win, looking for a similar result on Saturday. Water stands 6'5″ with a 77-inch reach.

Why Billy Goff Will Win

Billy Goff came into his debut fight against Yusaka Kinoshita as the heavy betting underdog and absolutely seized the opportunity from the opening bell. He wastes no time in taking the center of the octagon and blitzing his opponent. While he's a bit undersized for the weight class, he more than makes up for it with his physical strength and toughness when eating shots. He's incredibly hard to finish on the feet and as long as he's still standing, he'll continue to march forward and pressure right in the face of Waters.

Billy Goff will have to work with a big height disadvantage here, but he's more than willing to run through the fire and close the distance if it means getting his own shots off. He's much more of a wrestler and saw a ton of success in his debut taking down his opponent and working his own ground-and-pound. If he can take Waters down and hold him there, we should see Billy Goff execute his own game plan while negating much of Waters' offense.

Why Trey Waters Will Win

Trey Waters made a spectacular debut in the UFC during his last fight where he overcame underdog status and got the unanimous decision win over an extremely bright prospect in Josh Quinlan. Waters has had success in his own right, being the LFA Welterweight champ long before his UFC debut. Now, he's looking to make a name for himself in a crowded division where he stands out as a uniquely tall and fluid striker. Along with his imposing frame at 6'5″, Waters has great power and leverage in his striking, often generating a ton of power when hitting his opponents. Last fight, he had Josh Quinlan visibly hurt at multiple points as he cruised to the victory.

Trey Waters' last opponent in Josh Quinlan wasn't as aggressive as Billy Goff will be in this fight, so Waters will have to focus on his defense and weather the early storm from Goff. We haven't seen him fight too much from compromising spots, so it'll be interesting to see how he curbs the offense of his opponent. He's got a solid takedown defense rate at 77% and will be likely wanting to keep this on the feet. With how tall he is, don't be surprised if Waters goes for a guillotine upon one of Goff's takedown entries.

Final Billy Goff-Trey Waters Prediction & Pick

This will be an interesting fight in terms of differing styles and with a betting line as close as this one, expect a back-and-forth bout for much of these three rounds.

Billy Goff is the much better wrestler here and his aggressiveness in controlling the center of the cage is likely to force Trey Waters on his back foot. Goff could look to blitz him early and stun him with a shot coming in. If Goff can force Waters to his back and control this fight from top position, he should be able to grind-out a decision win here.

Trey Waters, however, is a great striker and he's coming off the biggest win either these fighters have had against Josh Quinlan. He has great power in his shots and will have a massive height advantage over Goff. Look for Water to use his jiu jitsu in making this a close fight.

For our prediction, we'll roll with Trey Waters to get the win. As long as he can keep this fight on the feet, he'll be able to keep Goff at the end of his shots and tire him out with each failed takedown attempt. Let's ride the betting favorite to get the win here.
