College football is going to look different this season as conference expansion is bringing big changes in 2024. The Pac-12 is gone, and the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten and SEC are all going to look very different. The Big Ten and the SEC look like they are on the verge of being two super conferences as they are both loaded with talent, and a lot of teams in those conferences have some daunting schedules. One of those teams is Georgia football. The Bulldogs are looking to return to the mountaintop of college football this season, but it will be difficult.

Georgia football has an incredibly difficult schedule for this upcoming season in the new-look SEC. The two new teams are Texas and Oklahoma, and the Longhorns are expected to be one of the best teams in college football again this season. The Bulldogs have to play at Texas, but they don't play Oklahoma.

The Bulldogs open the season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against Clemson, they play Alabama and Ole Miss on the road, and they have some other tricky matchups littered throughout the schedule as well. There's no question about it, their schedule is a gauntlet.

We’ll be the favorite in some people’s eyes,” Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart said during a recent appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show. “Some people will find things wrong with us. We’ve got a really hard schedule. We play three top-15 teams on the road in our conference, that’s tough.”

This schedule is going to be tricky to navigate, but Georgia should be one of the best teams in college football yet again next season. The Bulldogs will be favorites in a lot of their football games, and they are expected to be a College Football Playoff team.

“We’ve got a good football team,” Kirby Smart added. “We’ve got a very consistent football team. We say it all the time, We’re built to sustain at Georgia. We don’t want to be a one-hit wonder. We don’t want to live and die through the portal. We want to grow our players from signing with us, make them better and then give them an opportunity at the next level and to be better contributors to society.”

Kirby Smart is confident that Georgia football will be good next season

Kirby Smart is right, the Georgia football team has built something that can be sustained, and they have now consistently been a contender for numerous years in a row under Smart. The Bulldogs aren't going anywhere, but a lot of these teams next year will be College Football Playoff teams as well. Georgia could end up being the fourth best team in college football next year, but they play at least three teams that are good enough to be top-three. Smart is confident that they'll be good, but a lot of those games could be coin flips.

“I think we’re going to have a good football team next year,” Smart said. “I don’t know how good, and I don’t know how we’ll play on some really tough road games, but we’ll see where it falls.”

This Georgia team is going to be a lot of fun to watch next season and they are going to be playing on the big stage often. The college football world will be watching as they participate in some of college football's most highly-anticipated games next year.
