The Seattle Mariners will continue their three-game series with the Houston Astros on Saturday at Minute Maid Park. We're here to share our MLB odds series, make a Mariners-Astros prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Mariners entered this series on a good note following a 4-2 homestand, including a three-game series where they took two of three from the Atlanta Braves. Now, they hope to take down one of their biggest divisional rivals.

The Astros are coming off a series where they won two of three games against the Cleveland Guardians. Somehow, it was their first series win in over two weeks and the Astros hope to carry that momentum into this series.

The Mariners dominated the Astros last season, going 9-4 over 13 games. Now, they hope to replicate that success while the Astros are currently struggling.

Logan Gilbert starts for the Mariners. He is 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA. Amazingly, he tossed 6 1/3 innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out nine in a no-decision against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gilbert has amassed four straight quality starts. Significantly, he is 4-2 with a 3.63 ERA and 45 strikeouts over nine games against the Astros.

Framber Valdez starts for the Astros. He is 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA. Recently, he went five innings while allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out six in a win over the Colorado Rockies. Valdez is 5-1 with a 3.00 ERA with 71 strikeouts over 12 games against the M's.

Why The Mariners Will Cover The Spread/Win

The M's are struggling to hit the baseball. Sadly, they are only 27th in batting average and on-base percentage. The Mariners are also only 26th in runs, 16th in home runs, and 25th in slugging percentage. Therefore, they need to find ways to do more at the plate.

Julio Rodriguez is one of the best hitters in baseball. However, he has a mark of just .243 with four home runs, 13 RBIs, and 15 runs over 28 games against the Astros. Mitch Haniger is solid. Yet, he is hitting just .223 with four home runs, 15 RBIs, and 17 runs over 36 games against the Astros. Ty France continues to be a centerpiece for the Mariners. Ultimately, he is batting .286 with one home run, one RBI, and four runs over his past five games against the Astros.

The pitching staff has saved the Mariners again. So far, they are second in the majors in team ERA. They even have the fourth-best bullpen in baseball. Thus, look for them to continue to try and keep the score down and fool the Houston hitters.

The Mariners will cover the spread if they can generate some early scoring and get Valdez to struggle. Then, they need Gilbert to have another quality start to set up a tough bullpen.

Why The Astros Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Astros are struggling this season. Despite the early stumbles, their hitting is still good. The Astros are third in batting average and fifth in on-base percentage. Also, they are 16th in runs, sixth in home runs, and fifth in slugging percentage.

Jose Altuve is one of the best hitters in Houston history. Additionally, he is hitting .314 with 18 home runs, 87 RBIs, and 104 runs over 165 games against the Mariners in his career. Alex Bregman continues to back up him. Also, he is batting .274 with nine home runs, 48 RBIs, and 51 runs over 108 games against the Mariners.

Yordan Alvarez continues to supply the power. Currently, he enters the series with a batting average of .303 with 14 home runs, 55 RBIs, and 33 runs over 49 games against the M's. Kyle Tucker still hits the baseball well. Likewise, he has career marks of .283 with eight home runs, 34 RBIs, and 36 runs over 64 games against the Mariners.

The Astros have struggled because of the poor pitching. Unfortunately, they are just 27th in team ERA. Even worse, the once-deadly bullpen is just 24th in the majors.

The Astros will cover the spread if they can jump on Gilbert early. Then, they need to avoid making mistakes down the heart of the plate.

Final Mariners-Astros Prediction & Pick

Two great pitchers take the mound. Significantly, these teams have played many low-scoring games over the past two seasons. The Mariners and Astros both have their best pitchers on the mound. Because of that, we expect not many runs to come by. Look for both hitters to struggle to hit the baseball. Consequently, this results in the under hitting the spread for this game.
