The Denver Nuggets will attempt to pull themselves out of a 2-0 hole as they head out to the Twin Cities to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday for Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals. We're here to share our NBA odds series, make a Nuggets-Timberwolves Game 3 prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Timberwolves destroyed the Nuggeys 106-80 in Game 2 to secure a 2-0 hold on this series, with everything shifting back to Minnesota for Game 3. Significantly, it was a defensive masterpiece in every way possible. The Wolves held the Nuggets to 29 for 83 shooting despite not having Rudy Gobert, who was absent due to the birth of his son.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the Wolves with 27 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 10 for 15, including 3 for 5 from the triples, and also added two blocked shots. Likewise, fellow superstar Anthony Edwards had 27 points while shooting 11 for 17, while also generating two steals. Nickeil Alexander-Walker was efficient off the bench, tapping 14 points while shooting 5 for 9 from the floor, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Naz Reid added 14 points from the bench.

Aaron Gordon led the Nuggets with 20 points. Also, Nikola Jokic struggled despite getting a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Jokic shot just 5 for 13 from the hardwood. Even worse, Michael Porter Jr. had just nine points while shooting 4 for 12. Jamal Murray struggled again, having one of his worst playoff games ever after scoring eight points while shooting a horrid 3 for 18 from the floor, including an 0 for 4 stretch from beyond the arc.

Why The Nuggets Could Cover The Spread/Win

The obvious issue was shooting. Unfortunately, the Nuggets shot only 34.9 percent from the floor in Game 2, continuing a bad stretch that started in Game 1. But if anyone who has watched the Nuggets through these playoffs is honest, this started back against the Los Angeles Lakers. Their shooting has been terrible since the postseason began. Yet, Murray bailed them out twice against the Lakers. He has not shown up yet in this series.

But Jokic is more worrisome. Unfortunately, the Wolves may have figured out how to guard him. They had one player guarding him, with another in the paint to ensure he did not get that much room to move. Also, because his teammates are struggling to shoot, it's destroying the backup option for the Nuggets in the event that he is not able to get the shot off. Jokic must bounce back. Then, he needs his teammates to find a way to do more.

Murray has been abysmal during the playoffs with the exception of the final quarters of those Lakers' games. Therefore, he must find a way to play a full game without inconsistent shooting. Murray is shooting just 37.5 percent from the floor, including 28.6 percent from beyond the arc. Thus, he must improve to give the Nuggets a chance.

Porter had a rare bad game. After delivering through the postseason, it was an off night for him. Porter certainly has the capability of finding his shot. Ultimately, he currently is shooting 51.4 percent during the playoffs. Gordon is the only player who had a solid game. Currently, he is averaging 14 points per game during then playoffs while also shooting 54.8 percent from the floor.

The Nuggets will cover the spread if they can improve their shooting. Then, they need to clamp down on defense and prevent Towns and Edwards from going off.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread/Win

Edwards has been the best player during the playoffs. Amazingly, he just keeps producing at a high level. Edwards is so red-hot right now that some are comparing him to Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Now, he hopes to keep sinking the dagger into the defending champions.

Towns finally has shown up after an inconsistent regular season. Now, he is averaging 20.7 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, including 53.8 percent from the 3-point line. Towns is doing everything he can to lift the Wolves over the edge.

Gobert likely returns after missing Game 2. Significantly, he has been efficient during the playoffs, averaging 13.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game while shooting 59.5 percent from the floor. Gobert also has blocked 1.2 shots per game.

The bench has been solid throughout the season. Additionally, it has stepped up during the playoffs. Alexander-Walker is averaging 11.3 points per game, while Reid is averaging 11.3 points.

The Timberwolves will cover the spread if they continue their hot shooting. Then, they need to keep defending Jokic and Murray efficiently.

Final Nuggets-Timberwolves Game 3 Prediction & Pick

The Nuggets have fallen apart, losing both games at home. Somehow, they lost despite not having to face Gobert. Gobert returns for this one, making Game 3 significantly harder. The only way for the Nuggets to go into Minnesota and shock the Wolves would be to play a perfect game. Thus, they must stop Edwards and Towns. We don't see that happening. Plus, Murray has struggled in every game of the postseason. Timberwolves win this game and again cover the spread.
