It is the end of an interleague series as the Detroit Tigers host the Miami Marlins. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Marlins-Tigers prediction and pick.

The Marlins and the Tigers played the first game of a three-game series on Monday. The Tigers scored the first three runs of the game, scoring three runs in the second inning to take the lead. Still, the Marlins would tie it up. It started with a Bryan De La Cruz single that scored a run, then he would score. The Marlins scored three in the fifth to tie the game. In the eighth Otto Lopez hit a two-run home run to give the Marlins the lead. The Tigers would single home a run, and then Spencer Torkelson hit a two-run home run to give the Tigers the lead. They would win 6-5.

The two will face off in game two of the series on Tuesday. Ryan Weathers will be on the mound in the Tuesday contest for the Marlins. He is 2-4 on the year with a 4.54 ERA. Further, he has 1.32 WHIP.   It will be Reese Olson on the mound for the Tigers in this one. He is 0-4 with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP.

Why The Marlins Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Marlins sit 24th in the majors in runs scored this year while sitting 22nd in batting average, 29th in on-base percentage, and 28th in slugging. Bryan De La Cruz and Jazz Chsiholm Jr. have led the way this year. De La Cruz is hitting .262 on the year with a .312 on-base percentage. He has nine doubles and eight home runs, good for 22 RBIs. Further, he has scored 23 times this year. Chisholm is hitting .256 on the year with a .333 on-base percentage. He has five home runs, eight doubles, and two triples. This has led to 21 RBIs. Further, he has eight stolen bases and 18 runs scored this year.

Josh Bell comes in having a solid week. He is hitting .286 over the last week with a .400 on-base percentage. He has two doubles and a home run, with six RBIs. Further, he has scored three times. Otto Lopez has also been hitting well as of late. He is hitting .357 in the last week with two home runs and four RBIs. Further, he has scored three times.

Marlins pitching is 30th in team ERA while sitting 29th in WHIP, and 27th in opponent batting average. Trevor Rogers will be on the mound for the Marlins. He is 0-6 on the year with a 6.57 ERA and a 1.86 WHIP. Last time out, he gave up five runs, four earned in just 3.1 innings of work. He has given up 13 runs in his last two starts, over 5.2 innings. Current Tigers have 25 career at-bats against Rogers. They have hit .320 against him with four RBIs.

Why The Tigers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Tigers are 21st in runs scored this year, while sitting 23rd in opponent batting average, 26th in on-base percentage, and 22nd in slugging percentage. Mark Canha has been solid this year. He is hitting .237 on the year with a .359 on-base percentage. Further, he has eight doubles and six home runs this week. He has 20 RBIs and 18 runs scored. Riley Greene is hitting .248 on the year with a .365 on-base percentage. He has seven doubles, a triple, and nine home runs, leading to 18 RBIs. Furthermore, he has scored 29 times this year.

Kerry Carpenter has been solid this year as well. He is hitting .278 on the year with eight doubles, two triples, and five home runs. He has driven in 18 runs this year and scored 14 times.

Tigers pitching is ninth in ERA while sitting fifth in WHIP and ninth in opponent batting average.  It will be Casey Mize on the mound for the Tigers in this one. He is 1-1 on the year with a 3.58 ERA. Last time out, he went six innings, giving up just one run, the the Tigers fell to the Astros. Only Nick Gordon and Jake Burger have faced Mize in their careers. They are a combined 0-7 with two strikeouts.

Much like the game on Tuesday, the Tigers have the better pitcher going in this one. Trevor Rogers has been terrible this year, and there is no reason to suspect the Tigers will not take advantage of that in this one. Take the Tigers to get the win.
