Isaiah Thomas was an NBA superstar not too long ago with the Boston Celtics. He was one of the most prolific scorers in the league and was showing no signs of slowing down. Unfortunately, his career fell off quickly due to injuries and a trade that sent him to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving.

Since that time, Thomas has seen his career spiral downhill very quickly. He has suffered more injuries and has been unable to find a legitimate chance to prove himself again.

Now, he is set to hit the open market. Thomas took to Twitter to ask for one team to give him a legitimate chance to get back to playing the way he once did:

He is also confident that he can get back to playing at an elite level again for the team that gives him that chance:

During the 2018-19 NBA season with the Denver Nuggets, Thomas ended up playing in just 12 games. He averaged 8.1 points to go along with 1.9 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game. Thomas shot just 34.3 percent from the field overall and 27.9 percent from the 3-point line.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three teams who should consider giving Thomas another chance.

3. New York Knicks

One team that could use help at the point guard position is the Knicks. They have been searching for a long-term point guard for a while now, but have been unable to find one. Thomas would be a risk, but they have plenty of cap space and absolutely nothing to lose.

New York wants to get back into playoff contention as soon as possible. Thomas may not be the star he once was, but there is still some hope that he can play at a high level. That hope should make the Knicks consider giving him another chance if they swing and miss at bigger free agents.

2. Indiana Pacers

The Pacers are another team in a bit of a rough spot. They have around $34 million in cap room left, but they have quite a few needs to fill. Indiana needs a point guard, and Thomas might make sense for them if they can't get a name like D'Angelo Russell, Ricky Rubio, or Terry Rozier.

Isaiah Thomas

Thomas is confident in himself and has the type of game that would fit in Indiana. Myles Turner would be a great backup for him defensively, so Thomas could slot in as a scorer right off the bat. Indiana would like to get a better, more sure option, but taking a risk on Thomas could make sense.

1. Boston Celtics

Finally, a return home to Boston might be exactly what the doctor ordered for Thomas. He played the best basketball of his career with the Celtics and has been very vocal about his love for the city.

Brad Stevens and company are set to lose Kyrie Irving to free agency. They are also about to lose Al Horford to free agency. Signing Isaiah Thomas on a cheap deal would put fans in the arena and would be an intriguing addition if there is any chance that he gets back to playing at a high level.
