After getting traded in the offseason to the Dallas Mavericks to make room for the Golden State Warriors‘ signing of Kevin Durant, many believed Andrew Bogut can make a big contribution and help bring the Mavs to greater heights once again.

Despite the optimism from their fans and team officials, things have not gone according to plan and Bogut has not been able to provide what he's expected to bring to the table. He is averaging a career-low 3.2 points with 9.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 blocks in only 23.6 minutes per game.

The 32-year-old Australian center knows his stint with the team will not go beyond this season and he recently shared his thoughts about it.

“Thankfully I'm a free agent here so I only have a couple of months more here and then will most likely move on. I don't see myself hanging around with everything that's gone on. It will be an interesting six months ahead.”

Once a top overall pick and a regular starter for the teams he's played for in the past, Bogut is now coming off the bench and playing the second fewest minutes in his 11-year NBA career.

If there's anything working to his advantage at this point, it's that he is in the final year of his team-friendly contract where he is only owned $11 million this season, an amount that can be thought of as a bargain given how much other big men are getting paid these days and Bogut knows that will make it easier for him to be dealt.

“I’ve got a valuable contract … having four months left on my contract I’m a valuable commodity to be moved”

Should the Mavericks ultimately decide to trade him before the deadline next month, it can be considered a win-win situation that will benefit both parties in the long run.
