The Brooklyn Nets have signed hybrid guard Archie Goodwin to a second 10-day contract, according to a report by Chris Haynes of ESPN.

The 22-year-old has been a pleasant surprise for the Nets, scoring 26 points on 58.8 percent shooting during his first 10-day stint with the team. Throughout his fourth year in the league, Goodwin has had stints with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Phoenix Suns.

A former No. 29 overall pick, Goodwin has showed plenty of promise, but failed to garner any solid minutes in a rotation, for exception to his end-of-the-season lapse at point guard for the Suns in 2015-16. Goodwin spoke to Anthony Puccio and Bryan Fonseca of Nets Daily before Tuesday’s game, hopeful to remain in Brooklyn.

“When I first got here I told Sean Marks ‘You know from the beginning of the season I’ve watched your team play.’ To be truthful, I watched 90 percent of their games,” Goodwin said. “The games I watched I said, ‘Man this team plays hard and they really play for each other.’ It’s one of those situations where the pieces aren’t there just yet. They’re – I mean we’re – definitely headed in the right direction and I want to be a part of this.”

The shifty guard impressed against the Washington Wizards during the first day of his new contract on Friday night, knifing through the defense early in the second quarter, finishing a clean 3-of-3 from the field for 10 points and three assists.
