After all the setbacks he's had this season, there's finally some positive news about Ben Simmons' recovery from injury.

The Philadelphia 76ers rookie has reportedly been cleared to resume 5-on-5 work as his latest foot scan revealed it has completely healed. However, his team is planning to take a cautious approach with his condition and will not risk seeing him suffer another injury in the Summer League.

Simmons emerged as last year's top overall pick after his impressive stint with the LSU Tigers, where he averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He last played in the Summer League and showcased his unique skill set by playing point guard during some stretches. The 6-foot-10 forward intrigued a lot of fans with the possibility of seeing him run plays in the NBA.

Back in the last week of September, the Sixers received horrible news after Simmons rolled his ankle during the final training camp scrimmage. Doctors determined that he suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot, sidelining him for three to four months. His foot did not fully recover as planned and the team announced that he would miss the entire season.

With the return of Joel Embiid, the solid play of Dario Saric, and the addition of their draft pick in June, Simmons will definitely add to the excitement the Philly faithful now as their team is expected to be at full strength at the start of next season.
