Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons can't seem to get back on the court fast enough after sustaining a foot injury late last month.

Despite early reports that Simmons' agent was pushing to keep him out the entire season, head coach Brett Brown said that the first overall pick of this year's draft is scheduled to return in January, a more positive outlook than the previous three-month absence league sources gave for his injury to heal.

“It’s not doom and gloom,” Brown told Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer when asked when asked how his team is adjusting to its various injuries at the moment. “Ben is coming back in January. We are still trying to find information on Jerryd [Bayless]. Jahlil [Okafor]  is still trying to touch the court in his first preseason game.”

Simmons suffered a Jones fracture in his right foot during the final day of training camp on Sept. 30. Bayless is sidelined with a sore left wrist while Okafor has soreness in his right knee following an offseason surgery repair a torn right meniscus.
