Golden State Warriors General Manager Bob Myers doesn’t feel the need to apologize for loading his team with talent and rightfully so.

Myers has seen his organization’s reputation shift over the summer, following Kevin Durant’s free agency decision to head to the Bay Area to form what many have called a ‘super team’. The public opinion of the Warriors has changed dramatically since the move and the team that won 73 games last year are now seen as the league’s villains.

When speaking to Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area on Thursday, Myers reminded the naysayers that Warriors fans watched their team struggle for years before the unbelievable success they have experienced over the last few years.

“You remember what we had to watch?” Myers said. “We watched teams come here and destroy our team. We didn’t have any of those players. So I’m not going to apologize.”

The GM feels as though Golden State had simply taken the opportunities that have come their way and that they aren’t the first team that has been stacked with talent.

“There have been some amazing teams in the NBA in the last 15, 20, 25 years. Everybody gets their turn,” Myers said. “Maybe this is our time to see what we can do with a talented group of players.

“Man, we waited. If you’re a fan of this team, you had to be patient. You had to wait.”

Myers is completely right not to apologize, anyone in his position would have done their absolute best to add Durant to their talented roster.

Although fans will be reluctant to admit it, there is often a correlation between teams that are vilified and those that are successful.
