It appears that new Lakers head coach Luke Walton has found his lead assistant for next season.

During his appearance on 95.7 The Game with Guy Haberman earlier on Wednesday, Brian Shaw confirmed reports that he'll be joining Los Angeles' coaching staff.

From Haberman:

“It's true (I am joining Lakers coaching staff) at this point just finalizing the last details of the contract.”

After bouncing around with a number of teams from 1988 to 1999, Brian Shaw spent the last four seasons of his career playing for the Lakers. He won three straight titles alongside Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant.

Shortly after retiring, Shaw became an assistant in Los Angeles while Walton was a player. His stint lasted from 2005-2011, winning two more championships at the end of the decade.

Most recently, Shaw was the head coach for the Denver Nuggets from 2013-2015. It was far from successful, as his Nuggets teams went 56-85 before he was fired.
