The Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls are nearing an agreement to trade point guard Michael Carter-Williams for sharp-shooting Tony Snell, league sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe and Marc Stein.

The Bucks have been relentlessly looking for help at the shooting guard position ever since the injury to Khris Middleton left a hole at that position.

If the deal is struck, it would be the second trade Milwaukee has done since the loss of Middleton, following the acquisition of forward Michael Beasley from the Houston Rockets for guard Tyler Ennis.

The two teams faced off today and as expected, neither of the players involved in the trade logged any minutes on the floor.

According to earlier ESPN reports, the Bucks had unsuccessfully attempted to trade Carter-Williams for the KingsBen McLemore.

Snell could bring reliable shooting during Middleton's absence and fit into a bench role nicely after his return. Carter-Williams would be a solid backup to new acquisition Rajon Rondo, but it still does not address the long-range shooting woes the team has to date.

Both players are first-round picks eligible for extensions ahead of the Oct. 31 deadline, but neither was on talks of receiving an extension prior to the trade chatter.

Out of the two, Snell is the one likely to get more immediate playing time as he can potentially be a plug-and-play candidate if he can shoot the ball reliably.
