New York Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony and his wife LaLa, have separated, according to a TMZ Sports report on Monday.

The couple are said to be in “amicable” terms, but living separately in New York City at the moment.

New York's tumultuous season could have played a huge part in the breakup, with plenty of rumors surrounding the Syracuse standout throughout this 2016-17 campaign.

“The current NBA season has been extremely stressful on the marriage for several months,” the site said of their relationship.

The Knickerbockers went a feeble 31-51, finishing 12th in the East and with the overall seventh-worst record in the NBA.

Anthony was rumored to be moved prior to the trade deadline, but due to circumstances, stayed put for the remainder of the season. Trade talks were once again rekindled last week when team president Phil Jackson said the team was looking to part ways with Anthony, claiming he'd be “better off somewhere else” where he could chase a championship.

Carmelo and LaLa first got engaged during his rookie year in 2004, having their son Kiyan in 2007, and tying the knot in 2010. Their wedding coincided with Anthony's last season with the Denver Nuggets, as he looked to make his way to The Big Apple.
