The trade heard 'round the world shook a lot of things in the Western Conference after Kevin Durant left his franchise of eight years to join the Golden State Warriors in free agency.

Carmelo Anthony, for one, was surprised his Jordan Brand mate Russell Westbrook was so eager to sign back with the Oklahoma City Thunder after Durant's departure for the Bay Area.

“Yeah I was, to be honest with you, yeah, for him to do it that soon. But that's Russ,” Anthony told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. “Russ don't give a damn about nothing. It's all about what he want to do and when he want to do it, how he want to do it. I think he wants to show people he was loyal to OKC.”

Westbrook was an absolute tornado on the court on nights when Durant was out with injury, having one of the most torrid 15 games to a season in 2014-15, when he put out triple-double after triple-double to help his team's chances before the playoffs.

“I can tell that he was waiting for a moment like this where he can just go shine. He wanted to be the leader of that team regardless if KD came back or not,” Anthony said about his Jordan Brand endorsement mate. “He wanted that moment. You could just tell his vibe was different, his energy was different. You could just tell when people want those moments.”

The Long Beach native hasn't fallen a hair under fans and media expectation, as he's once again become a triple-double machine with this re-tooled roster for the Thunder. Russell Westbrook's loyalty has paid plenty of dividends for the fans and the organization, as he holds averages of 31.2 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 9.9 assists per game through 18 games this season.
