The Boston Celtics have renounced the rights to 2013 draft pick Colton Iverson, according to The Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach .

Iverson has been stashed overseas awaiting a roster spot in the NBA, but the Celtics have had a logjam of young players that dropped him further down the priority list with each passing year.

The Celtics did offer Iverson a one-year tender contract (most likely non-guaranteed), which he rejected due to the strong possibility of being waived at training camp.

The only thing he gets out of this current situation is a chance to explore his options with other NBA teams, with enough time to make a training camp.

The one year deal would've made Iverson a legitimate NBA free agent, but as he ages (27-years-old) his stock declines with each passing year.
