Parsons has dealt with numerous injuries throughout his career which includes this season when he had to sit out for a while with a knee injury. Even when he came back from injury and was presumed to be healthy, he had his major struggles.
Currently, Parsons is shooting just about 34% from the field and 26% from deep. Those are numbers that the Grizzlies did not expect and numbers that Chandler Parsons himself is not happy about one bit. While it’s been a rough season for Parsons, he is not ready to shut it down for the season yet to fully heal up.
Q: Some have said you should shut it down for the year.
A: Everyone has their own opinion, you guys get paid to have an opinion, and I respect that. But those opinions don’t matter. The belief that my coaches have in me, and that my trainers who work with me every day, that see the progress, is what matters to me.
Q: So shutting it down for the year has never crossed your mind?
A: No, no, no, no. I love basketball. Basketball is everything to me. I’m not just going to shut it down because I’m struggling. What kind of coward would I be if I did that? I’m going to continue to work hard, I’m going to continue to bust my ass and try and be the best player I can become. (Shutting it down) is not going to happen unless I have to have surgery or something.
It’s easy to appreciate the fact that Parsons will do whatever it takes to still play this season, even if he isn’t at 100%. We hope that Chandler Parsons continues to put in the work and gets back to his stellar play soon.
