To say that Memphis Grizzlies supporters are unhappy about Chandler Parsons’ contributions to the team this year would be an understatement. However, a fan has brought his disappointment to a whole new level after throwing a haymaker of a shot at Parsons right to his face.
In a short clip that has recently made its rounds on social media, an unidentified fan was able to capture a video of himself together with Parsons in what started out to be a simple shout out video. The 6-foot-9 forward appeared to be in a good mood and ready to give some love for an avid supporter. What came next was a bit of a shock – especially to Parsons who seemed to have been caught off guard.
“Yeah, say ‘I’ve ruined the Grizz season, baby,’” were the words that the gutsy fan wanted Parsons to repeat. Unfortunately the 7-second video was cut off right after the 28-year-old player appeared to try and clarify what he had just heard. We can now only speculate as to how things went after that.
In his first season in Memphis, Parsons has failed to live up to his massive contract. He is currently on a four-year $94 million deal and is the second-highest paid player on the roster, next only to franchise point guard Mike Conley. The Casselberry, Florida native just has not been the same player he was prior to undergoing two season-ending surgeries on his problematic right knee back in 2015 and 2016.
Parsons has participated in merely 34 games for the Grizz this season in which he has played an average of only 19.9 minutes per game. He is currently performing way below expectations with season averages of 6.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists while only shooting 33.8 percentfrom the field.
