Parsons, who inked a 4-year, $94 million contract with the Grizzlies this past summer, will have surgery to repair a meniscus in his left knee, the team announced today.
Parsons had without question his worst season in the NBA this year. Battling injury, he played in just 34 games posting averages of 6.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 33.8 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from three.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies have remained a playoff team, sitting at 40-30 and seventh in the Western Conference. Fans will wonder what a healthy Parsons could have brought this team and if it could’ve been enough for the Grizz to finish much higher in the standings.
The hope for Parsons is that health completely determined his miserable season and that if he gets back to full strength, he can return to his previous form.
