Prior to Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside clarifying his comments about L.A. Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan — his point guard, Chris Paul, didn't need to defend his lob-catching teammate, but instead let the scoreboard speak for him.

Jordan had a clutch possession down the stretch, as he ensnared an offensive rebound and put it back up to seal a Clippers 102-98 win over the Heat.

“James (Johnson) boxed me out, did a good job of boxing me out,” Jordan told Rowan Kavner of NBA.com. “It just kind of fell in my hands a little bit, and I just tried to hurry up and get it up there.”

The 6-foot-11 defensive anchor out-staged his counterpart with a 12-point, 19-rebound performance with three blocks, compared to Whiteside's 11 points, 17 rebounds and one block.

“It was huge,” Paul said of Jordan’s late rebound. “That’s what he does – rebound, get buckets… you know, make shots.”

The reporter followed up asking if Jordan’s performance had some sort of poetic justice to rival Whiteside's earlier statement of non-comparison between the two.

“C’mon man, look at big fella – First Team All-NBA, First Team All-Defense,” Paul said. “He ain’t got to say nothing.”
