After he made it known that he took offense on the results of the media, fans and coaches voting, David Robinson also shared the same sentiments, and admitted via Tom Orsborn of My San Antonio that he is surprised as well as he expected more Spurs players in the exhibition game on Sunday.
“It’s not typical.”
“We have always been an under-the-radar team anyway, and for the most part, we have guys who could really have cared less, to be honest with you, so I was surprised LaMarcus even said anything about it. But he has a point. When you have a team that has performed as well as we have, you can talk system all you want to talk, but you have to have players who actually fit into that system and can get it done. And we have players who can get it done.”
However, the two-time NBA Champion made it clear that the team’s focus will remain in contending for the title and that he is confident about their standing so far this season.
“It’s a little unfortunate, but it’s like I said, we have never really cared about that kind of stuff. And, at the end of the year, we want to be there where they are handing out championship trophies, and I think we are in a good place for that.”
The San Antonio faithful are hoping their players won’t treat the development as a distraction but rather something that will motivate them to play better and prove to everyone that more players from their team should have been named an All-Star.
