This season will be the sixth for Sacramento Kings‘ center DeMarcus Cousins young career, but that's not the only sixth he'll have this year. After playing for five coaches so far, Dave Joerger is now at the helm and will be the team's head bench tactician

After the much-publicized feuds he's had with his previous ones in the past, the 6-foot-11 big man finally has a positive relationship with his current coach. It already translated to a season opening win on Wednesday night and now the team looks to string a few more together to continue building on the momentum they have. Cousins raved about the 42-year-old Joerger and what he has brought to the Kings so far.

Per Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee:

“I like him and he likes me.”

“Joerger’s been great. I think what he brought to the team is what this team needed. It fits our identity more than how we played in the past. Not to knock any of the previous situations but I think this situation fits this team the best.”

Joerger gave his reaction to his starting center's comments about him and said that everything just came naturally as he did not do anything out of the ordinary to have this kind of relationship with him.

“I didn’t really do anything special other than try to be yourself. I think if you try to be somebody else that’s always a problem. Players can always see right through that so just be yourself, what you’re trying to do, how we’re trying to build it for the future of our team this season and going out for future years.”

During the summer, it was also reported that Cousins was happy with the system his coach is putting in place with the team.

This development is definitely good news for the Kings' top brass as well as their fans. If the two continue to connect positively with each other, it may lead to more wins for the team which may help them reach the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.
