DeMarcus Cousins led the NBA in the 2015-16 season in a major category, but not a good one: he totaled 17 technical fouls in just 65 games.

It was not the first season that he managed to earn this accolade. In 2013-14 he led with 16 techs, and in 2012-13 led with 17

We can safely say that Cousins has the tendency of being on the receiving end of a technical foul every few games and not many people would have an objection to that.

The recent gold medalist worked together with DraftKings to create a parody video where he goes as an “undercover referee to see if wearing the zebra stripes gives him a new understanding of the game.”

Technical fouls are the main subject of the video, including the infamous tech he received for clapping. He learned the basics of refereeing, added a bit of styling and dancing to it, and went to a pickup game to practice his new moves as a referee.

Things didn't develop as he planned though – especially when players started clapping for his decisions.

It is a nice touch that DeMarcus sees the funny side of the situation. Maybe this will help him limit his reactions in the new season and keep calm on the court, something that his team really needs.

A calm and concentrated Cousins can wreak havoc on opposing teams next season.
