Kings center DeMarcus Cousins talked to the media on Thursday, July 28th, 2016 before a team USA practice in Chicago. One question that came up was the departure of point guard Rajon Rondo, who has joined the Bulls instead of resigning.

“I mean it sucks,” Cousins said. “Me and Rondo really grew a great bond. He became a big brother to me. I learned a lot from him.”

“One thing I can say is Chicago’s getting a great person and a great player. Promise me y’all are going to take care of him.”

Earlier in the season, DeMarcus said that he “will kidnap him myself” to keep Rondo in Sacramento. From that quote, it seems like that DeMarcus had found a teammate that he had a great bond with, and that should have been a priority to keep him in a Kings uniform.

But alas, he's now playing for the Bulls. Even worse, the Kings didn't really add anyone; they traded Marco Belinelli for Malachi Richardson (a rookie), traded away the 8th pick for big men (who also are rookies) and future picks, and signed some role players like Arron Afflalo and Matt Barnes. Good enough role players, but those moves don't really help Sacramento or their franchise player, aka DeMarcus Cousins.
