Sticking to their tradition, the Los Angeles Lakers recently unveiled a statue of franchise great Shaquille O'Neal outside of Staples Center. O'Neal is one of the many statues that impressively stand guard outside of Staples as other franchise legends like Magic Johnson, Chick Hearn and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are also immortalized in metal by the Lakers.

With this in mind, it seems like a foregone conclusion that at some point soon, Kobe Bryant will be honored with a statue of his own. But that does bring up the question: which of Bryant's jersey numbers will be displayed on the statue?

Bryant's former teammate Derek Fisher has a simple answer for that vexing question. Just give Bryant two statues, one for each of his two jersey numbers.

“Two statues, one for each number,” Fisher told the intrepid folks at TMZ.

Fisher may have been joking with his answer but it does provide a solution to a quandary that the Lakers have in front of them. Bryant's number change midway through his career also presents a dilemma when it comes to retiring his jersey, which will also likely be done very soon. But perhaps the Lakers will follow Fisher's sage advice and just retire both of Bryant's numbers and make two statues to correspond with his jerseys hanging from the rafters at Staples.

And while that may seem like a bit much, Bryant is a future Hall of Famer and is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA, so it wouldn't be surprising for the franchise to honor him in every way that they can.
