The New York Knicks may not have started the season the way they wanted to, but if there's one bright spot for them, it's Derrick Rose.

The former MVP has played solid basketball so far with averages of 16.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. But what is not seen in his numbers is the less amount of free-throws he has taken this season compared to previous years.

Rose said it's a concern for him now and also explained why he thinks he's not getting calls from the referees as much anymore. Through his first seven years in the league, the 6-foot-3 point guard attempted 4.4 free-throws per game but this season it's down to 2.4 a game so far.

“I’m more concerned about me not getting calls. I’m going to the lane the same way everyone else is and not getting calls. They said I throw myself into people. That’s the league. If I beat them there, I’m there before they’re there and their hands aren’t up straight up. I think it’s a foul if there’s contact.’’

He also shared what the refs tell him whenever he asks why a call was not made when he felt he got fouled.

“They tell me they don’t see it. Three of them are out there. I don’t see how three of them don’t see it — me hitting the floor. I don’t see how that’s not a foul.”

The Memphis product's ability to blow by defenders and get to the basket is one of the facets of his game that he excels at. And since he's a career 81.4 percent shooter from the free-throw line, it will be very vital for his team if he'll be given more attempts from there as it will lessen the scoring load off Carmelo Anthony‘s back.
