The Dallas Mavericks faced off against the streaking Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday knowing that their franchise player is not 100 percent. Things even turned from bad to worse as he was not able to finish the game.

Dirk Nowitzki was forced to leave the contest after suffering from “mild pain” in his Achilles. He did not return as the Mavs are taking a cautious approach on his injury.

With only six games on their schedule, it won't be surprising if the team decides to shut him down for the remainder of the season. The Mavericks are out of contention for a playoff spot and with Nowitzki already at the advanced age of 38-years-old, it does make a lot of sense to let him fully recover.

Nowitzki has battled injuries throughout the course of the season and has only appeared in 49 games for his team. He is also averaging the least points since his rookie year with 14.3 a game, to go along with 6.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists. However, he was still able to score enough to reach 30,000 total points in his career last month, becoming just the sixth player in NBA history to do so.

Fortunately for the Mavericks, they were still able to win the game, 109-105. Harrison Barnes led the way for them as he finished with a team-high 31 points.
