After a rough preseason and first few games of the regular season, Harrison Barnes looks is proving to everyone that his max contract may indeed have made sense for the Dallas Mavericks. Their star and legend Dirk Nowitzki certainly has faith in the Mavs' newly acquired asset.

“He has the complete package,” Nowitzki told Sporting News. “I’ve worked out with him a couple of times after practices, and he’s got every shot in the book. And he’s looked like a franchise player here the last few weeks. He’s shown us moves that are very impressive, not only shooting the ball, but driving the ball, both ways. He’s got left(-hand) hooks and left runners. He’s shown strong post moves. He’s athletic. He’s a hard worker. He wants to win. So I think the sky is the limit for him.”

Many people were questioning if Barnes was worth all the money Dallas spewed out for him, but he is certainly coming into form now and it seems to be paying off. If even Nowitzki feels he is worthy of such high praise, then Mavs fans should be satisfied. Nowitzki is not the type of player who throws around such grandiose compliments to everyone,e so it must be truly from his heart.

Barnes is going to have to take the reigns of the team in the near future – something he has recently discussed – as Dirk is starting to age and his retirement looks imminent. The Mavericks have not been playing the best basketball as of late, but it's still a long season and they have time to turn it around. They also have not been able to send their full roster out healthy, so maybe when that time comes we will see a different result. Either way, if Dallas wants to see success it will be much on the heels of Harrison Barnes.
