Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier had plenty of opportunity in restricted free agency to explore interest he has garnered from teams around the league. However, he never found out how much his talent was coveted because he quickly signed a 5-year, $85 million deal to stay with the Magic.

Most young players spend their early career years building their brand and looking to cash out on a big payday.

Fournier had a different approach, and never considered leaving just for the money.

When reporters asked him if he felt building with the current team was more important than taking a big payday, he agreed that it was definitely true in his case.

“Yes, definitely. I don’t want to say a pay cut. It’s still a lot of money,” Evan Fournier said. “But I did not even look at offer sheets or consider anywhere else. Since day one I’ve said it: I feel good here. There is no reason for me to leave. The front office showed me confidence. I’m a loyal guy and this is how we do business.”

The Magic have looked to improve their roster this offseason, including hiring new head coach Frank Vogel and bringing veteran big Serge Ibaka to the team, to help steer the ship and get the team back to the playoffs.
