With the Orlando Magic having a 26-46 record and sitting in the second-to-last spot of the Eastern Conference, head coach Frank Vogel can afford to experiment with his lineups.

He is now looking towards the development of second-year small forward Mario Hezonja. The 43-year-old coach believes that a shift to the power forward position may work wonders for the Croatian.

“There’s a chance that this could be his best position or most natural position in today’s NBA: to be 6-9 small-ball four [power forward],” said Vogel, per Josh Robbins of Orlando Sentinel. “He’s going to have an opportunity to take a look at that and see what that feels like.”

The Magic obviously have a lot of belief in Hezonja’s potential as they picked him as fifth overall in the 2015 NBA draft. So far the team has yet to reap the benefits of their investment.

The 22-year-old failed to make a significant impact in his rookie campaign as he averaged only 6.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 17.9 minutes. His role further diminished this term as he has struggled to establish himself as the team’s primary option at the three spot. In his sophomore year, ‘The Beast' has per game averages of 4.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in just 13.5 minutes played.

This recent move is definitely a positive sign for Hezonja as his coach seems set to try and get all he can out of him. This only means more opportunities for Super Mario.

Hezonja did relatively well for himself in his first outing in the PF role as he flirted with a double-double with eight points and seven rebounds. He shot the ball poorly though going for only 3-12 from the field and 2-5 from 3-point territory. He remains to be a work in progress.
