For most NBA teams, watching film before practice is part of the routine. However, for Gregg Popovich, he doesn't make his team go through film during the early stages of a season.

The San Antonio Spurs head coach recently admitted his strategy at this point but revealed which team and player in particular he watches, giving credit to how that player is performing so far this season.

James Harden has been on a tear this season and is averaging incredible numbers of 27.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 11.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game. His strong play has not gone unnoticed as he is one of the early favorites to win the MVP award, leading the Houston Rockets to a 22-8 record and tied for third place in the Western Conference.

On Tuesday night, Popovich got to see the 27-year-old Arizona State product play up close as the Spurs went up against his team. The Rockets had the Spurs in deep trouble as they led by double digits with less than five minutes to go. However, the Spurs pulled off a comeback victory after they blasted Harden and the Rockets with a 19-4 run to finish the game.

They will have another matchup on March 6 to determine if Popovich and the Spurs win the season series or if the Rockets can even it up at two games apiece.
