One of the more improbable plots of the NBA season has been the recent run from the Miami Heat.
With the win over the Timberwolves last night, the Heat are now sitting in the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. This, after beginning the season 11-30. The Heat are now 23-5 since Jan. 17.
No team has ever gone on such a run and had to wait so long to be considered a playoff team. With the Heat finally getting to that point last night, center Hassan Whiteside came up with this analogy to describe the feeling.

That’s a great analogy for anyone who knows anything about lifting weights (and Whiteside certainly must). The transformation and results won’t happen over night, but patience and discipline will pay off in the long run. The Heat have to be feeling that way now.
The season isn’t over and the Heat have not clinched their playoff spot yet. While it seems unlikely they will start sliding back, maintaining the same level of play that got them to this point will be key to finish out the season the right way and keep this incredible story going.
