Any team looking to acquire Atlanta Hawks big man Paul Millsap through trade or free agency can calm their optimism.

Millsap is in the second year of a three-year deal with a player option that starts in the 2017-18 season.

That's a situation that makes many teams mull trading their own player to gather assets before he decides to bolt. But the Hawks organization loves Millsap, and General Manager Wes Wilcox says he doesn't plan to trade him.

Wilcox told Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he's in it for the long haul.

Paul is a great professional, and it's absolutely our goal for Paul to be a Hawk long term. It's as simple as that

Last season, Millsap averaged 17.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.7 blocks, while being named to the NBA All-Defensive second team.

In the event that Millsap decides he wants out of Atlanta, the team won't have much choice but to trade him or get nothing in return, but the front office is hopeful he will stick around for years to come.
