Darrelle Revis still may be one of the best cornerbacks in the game. But, on Sunday, it certainly didn't appear that way.
Time after time, Bengals all-pro receiver A.J. Green was defended by Revis. And, time after time, Revis failed to stop Green.
To be fair, Green is one of the best receivers in the game. Still, it's rare to see Revis Island get exploited this badly:

Those numbers are brutal for any corner, let alone Revis.
On a few occasions, Green left Revis out to dry. None was more apparent than this 54-yard touchdown:
Deeeeeeeeeeep TD to @AJGreen_18.
… And he beat @revis24 to do it. #CINvsNYJ https://t.co/na8NaZKrn5

And, even when Revis was all over Green, he couldn't be stopped. For example:
.@Revis24 is all over @AJGreen_18…
But it really didn't matter.
WHAT. A. GRAB. #CINvsNYJ https://t.co/WM50YFG9KP— NFL (@NFL) September 11, 2016
Revis didn't make any excuses after the Jets‘ slim 23-22 defeat. From Connor Hughes of NJ.com:
“It probably wasn't one of my better games,” Revis said after the game. “I can take a punch on the chin.”
It's only one game, but the 31-year old can't get torched like this if the Jets are going to win. New York's coaching staff might need to adjust their gameplan so that Revis isn't left to guard the game's best receivers without any safety help, a luxury they've utilized in the past.
Green added two more catches, finishing with 180 yards through the air.
