In a conversation with Adrian Wojnarowski on The Vertical podcast, L.A. Clippers shooting guard Jamal Crawford showed that even the brightest of stars was at one point starstruck himself.

The reigning Sixth Man of the Year went on to tell a story of how he and former Chicago Bulls teammate Eddy Curry once ran into Kanye West during an award show.

“Me and Eddy, we went to the Vibe Awards, I believe,” Crawford recalled. “We were in L.A. on a trip — this is when we were on the Chicago Bulls. And Kanye West was there. A younger Kanye West, he was just producing at that point. I think he'd started rapping, but he was just producing mostly.

“He saw Eddy Curry and he was like, in awe. He knew everything about him. He looked up and just said ‘That's Eddy!' It was just unbelievable to see that.”

Curry's career wasn't remotely close to what he was expected to be after being selected fourth overall out of high school by the Bulls in 2001. The 7-foot-1 center only played in 26 games from 2009 until 2012 and never materialized as the rebounding and shot-blocking monster he was touted to be.

He enjoyed his best and healthiest season when he started 81 games for the New York Knicks in 2006-07, averaging 19.5 points and seven rebounds. He averaged 12.9 points and 5.2 rebounds for his career.

Sadly, impressing a young Kanye West in the come-up is as good as it gets for him during his disappointing 11-year NBA stint.
