Houston Rockets star James Harden is leading the league in assists at 12.4 per game, which is a boost of five more dimes from last season.

The last time a player averaged over 12 assists per season was during the 1993-94 season when John Stockton still played for the Utah Jazz.

Harden isn't boastful or even shocked at his high assist rate, and tells reporters that his ability to share the ball has always been there, per Jonathan Feigen of Chron.com.

“I'm a playmaker. I'm a basketball player. The things I do, I don't get excited. They don't surprise me, anymore. I just go out there and hoop.”

Harden's skill will be tested when the Rockets face off against the Atlanta Hawks Saturday. The Hawks are tough defensively, ranking second in the league in allowing points to their opponents.

The Rockets are a top five scoring team in the league, and coach Mike D'antoni feels the game will be a test to see what they are made of.

“You don't get much better than Cleveland, what they did. This is hard place to play always and they're a good team. It will be a tough test.”

This will be the first meeting between Harden and his former teammate Dwight Howard since his departure in free agency.
