With the stellar performances they had the past seven days, the NBA has named Chicago Bulls forward Jimmy Butler and Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry as the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively. The games covered were from March 27 through April 2.

Butler has been willing the Bulls to make it to the playoffs and helped them to a perfect 3-0 record over the week, including a big win against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. The 27-year-old Marquette product averaged 32.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, six assists and one steal per game during that stretch. More importantly, his team is now in seventh place in their conference with a chance to still move up the standings.

Despite Dwyane Wade being sidelined for the remainder of the regular season, Butler has proven once again that he can carry the Bulls on his back and lead them to the postseason. He has increased his averages across the board since last month and is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Curry on the other hand helped the Dubs to win four games last week, without any losses. He averaged 31.8 points, shooting 52.4 percent from the field, to go along with 7.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals. On Sunday, the back-to-back MVP recorded his second-highest scoring output this season with 42 points. Curry has the Warriors peaking at the right time with the playoffs nearing and only five games remaining on their schedule.

Other nominees for the player of the week honors were DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas of the Toronto Raptors, Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker, C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, L.A. ClippersBlake Griffin and Chris Paul, New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis, and Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs.
