The NBA has named Washington Wizards point guard John Wall and Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden as its Players of the Month for games played in December.

Wall averaged 24.5 points, 10.7 assists, and 2.7 steals in the month and helped his team recover from their slow start to the season. With their 10 wins in December, the Wizards are now in the thick of the race for a playoff spot with their 16-17 record.

Harden, on the other hand, has continued his stellar play this season with 28.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 12.0 assists, and 1.5 steals while leading the Rockets to a franchise record 15 wins in a month. The Beard also posted the first 50-15-15 triple-double in NBA history when he recorded 53 points, 16 rebounds, and 17 assists against the New York Knicks on December 31.

Other players who received nominations for Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month were Toronto Raptors backcourt duo of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James, Milwaukee Bucks swingman Giannis Antetokounmpo, San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi LeonardNew Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis, Oklahoma City Thunder star guard Russell Westbrook, Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, and Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins.
