With the postseason no longer a concern for players of non-playoff-bound teams, the imminent arrival of the summer break offers a welcome rest and recuperation period after a grueling 82-game season. This does not appear to be the case for Los Angeles Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell and Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Karl-Anthony Towns as both players have already outlined their summer workout program.

These two second-year studs look set to put their disappointing seasons behind them by using the summer to work on their games. According to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, the two intend to do this together.

Despite the season still in full swing, it is very encouraging to hear for fans that both Russell and Towns are already looking forward to getting back to work once the season ends. Both are stars in their own right, but it is good to know that they do not intend to sit on their laurels this summer.

These two were the first and second overall picks of the 2015 NBA draft and they appear to have formed a close bond. Although their games may be different, they will still be able to learn a lot from each other.

Some fans could not help but speculate that this is an orchestrated move by the Lakers to try and recruit Towns. This does not seem to be likely as KAT still has three years remaining on his rookie deal and the Timberwolves will do absolutely everything in their power to ensure that their cornerstone player does not anywhere.
