The Sacramento Kings will be playing in a new arena this coming season, and it won't be any ordinary building.

After formally opening last September 30, the $556.6 million Golden 1 Center is one of the most technologically-advanced and environment friendly sports facilities in the world. Kings' majority owner Vivek Ranadive is excited to open its doors to the fans and described the arena as a “Giant Tesla.” Per Benny Evangelista of the San Francisco Chronicle:

“You should think of this entire building as a giant Tesla. The building gets smarter every day. Rather than you having to check into the arena, the arena will just be checking into you. It should tell you how to get there, where to park, how to get to your seat. It should cater to you.”

The downtown Sacramento arena has recently been given the LEED Platinum Status by the U.S. Green Building Council for being fully-powered by solar energy.

Other remarkable features are the largest indoor scoreboard and the world's first 4K Ultra HD video board, strategically placed vents under the seats, and living wall gardens watered by an indoor irrigation system.

But there's another feature that will surely entice younger fans to watch the games live:

“Perhaps more important for younger fans, the 17,500-seat arena is designed with enough Wi-Fi capacity to upload 500,000 Snapchat photos per second.”

Even by just looking at the photos of Golden 1 Center, one would understand how much work has been done to construct it. This should come as a very exciting development to the team that finished 19th last year in total attendance during games. Their top brass, together with the whole organization, are hoping that their losing seasons and tough times can all be put in the past now as they attempt to bring more fans to the arena.

Again, here's something to highlight a few of the many extra-ordinary features found at Golden 1 Center.
