San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay wanted to put Sacramento Kings' Richaun Holmes on a poster on Friday night, but the latter was having none of it.

At the 7:41 mark of the first quarter match between the Spurs and Kings at the AT&T Center, Gay wanted to beat the shot clock in style as he got the step ahead of his initial defender Nemanja Bjelica.

Gay thought he had a clear path to the rim as he rose high for the jam even with help defender Holmes coming to challenge him. Defense eventually prevailed as Holmes met him in the apex and swatted Gay's dunk attempt to the backboard as the 24-second clock expired, while giving his team the possession.

With Marvin Bagley III still out due to injury, Holmes has been a breath of fresh air for Sacramento with averages of 12.3 points on 66.9 shooting from the field, on top of 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.

He notched a career-best 28 points versus the Portland Trail Blazers last Wednesday.
