With the New York Knicks‘ season now down to its last 12 games, their coaching staff will look to give more run to their role players and limit their stars' playing time. This was apparently the case and Carmelo Anthony was already informed of their plans.

The 10-time All-Star forward confirmed this recently, via Marc Berman of the New York Post, and said that he is not taking offense and even understands their situation.

“Coach is starting to realize — he mentioned today he’s going to start shortening minutes. I’ve been understanding with the situation. I understand.’’

Anthony then added that he will continue to fulfill his role to the team and serve as a mentor to their young players, especially now that they will have the chance to get more experience under their belts. He also said he has now accepted the fact that they are out of the running for the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

“All the young guys, it’s an opportunity to get that experience instead of getting practice experience, individual workouts — actually getting it live and direct in a game against top-level opponents. It’s best to take advantage of that and for me to help them.’’

“I’ve come to peace with that. I’m not happy about it. I’m not sad about it. I’m at peace with it.’’

Despite his unclear future with the team, credit should be given to Anthony for remaining very professional. He has a lot of reason not to give his best anymore, but he has continued playing hard for the Knicks.

The franchise made it known that they will attempt to move him in the summertime and with the decreased playing time he'll get in their remaining games, Knicks fans may start moving on without him as his tenure with the team does not look like it will last any longer.
