After suffering back spasms during warmups prior to Thursday night's game against the Washington Wizards, the New York Knicks might play it safe with forward Kristaps Porzingis, potentially choosing to hold him out for the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

Head coach Jeff Hornacek assured the team would be “careful” with him during the last three games of the season, as the Knickerbockers are a mere 30-49 throughout 2016-17 and have been completely eliminated from playoff contention.

Porzingis has had a delicate season after getting off to a massive start through the first two months, showcasing an improved skill set at the offensive end. The 7-foot-3 unicorn has only played in 66 games after being constantly plagued with all sorts of injuries in this dire campaign.

The Knicks remain on pace to finish with the sixth-worst record in the league, hopeful of the opportunity to get a good draft pick in this year's talent-loaded NBA Draft.

If New York indeed chooses to shut him down for the season, Kristaps Porzingis will finish with averages of 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game in a mild improvement from last season's numbers.
