New York Knicks owner James Dolan could be gearing up to position himself to sell the franchise he's now owned for the better part of two decades. Yes, Dolan could be soon selling the Knicks, according to Bill Simmons of The Ringer.

“Multiple people told me this, who know things. James Dolan is courting offers for the Knicks,” said Simmons in his recent podcast (via Tommy Beer of Forbes). “It’s happening. It’s on. It’s go-time. He’s courting offers for the Knicks. That’s what I heard at All-Star weekend from people I trust.”

“This is what I’ve pieced together. [Dolan] really cares about the buildings and the in-game/in-concert experience. And he wants to put even more money into that,” Simmons explained. “The Knicks are just a pain in the a**, people s**t on him for it. He feels if he can just sell the Knicks for some crazy price, then he can put the money into that music/in-game experience stuff that he cares about. So, the Knicks are available.”

Knicks fans have been waiting for this moment for a while now, relentlessly tired of an owner that has many other interests besides making the Knicks the best franchise it can be.

That hasn't stopped Dolan from meddling in basketball decisions or hiring the wrong people for the job or even less so making a mockery of former franchise greats like Charles Oakley.

The Knicks won't come for cheap, though, as they are the highest-valued franchise in the league at $4 billion, according to Forbes. Dolan will want to sell high, assuring potential buyers on an even bigger return due to the market, stadium, TV revenue and now, sports betting, which will soon make a boom in NBA circles.

Dolan's ownership has been the deepest-rooted concern for athletes and executives when it comes to the Knicks, and now, there is a window of possibility that the franchise will move on to different hands in the future.
