Throughout the season, many have debated on who should be named the NBA's MVP. Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden and Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook have emerged as the favorites to win the highest individual honor as they are both having incredible seasons. While the opinions of fans have continued to be split, an NBA great gave a unique perspective on it.

No less than Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant recently answered the question about who he thinks deserves to win it more. Instead of naming just one of the aforementioned stars, The Black Mamba said that he feels like this will be the season where there will be co-MVPs.

“It's tough, man. It doesn't make sense to me, hard to come up with a rational decision of who should be MVP, so it's tough.”

“You might see our first co-MVPs this year.”

Although that wouldn't be the popular decision, Bryant's take on it certainly makes a lot of sense, especially with the kind of season the two are having.

Westbrook is on pace to average a triple-double the entire regular season and could become the first player to do it in 55 years. He has also been leading the Thunder to a playoff berth, in the first campaign after Kevin Durant decided to leave their team.

Harden, on the other hand, has surprised a lot of people with his smooth transition to the point guard spot and is second in the league in scoring, while leading the association in assists with 11.3 a game. More importantly, the Rockets are looking like a lock for the third seed in the Western Conference and will be a very difficult team to beat starting in mid-April.

Bryant's claim may still be up in the air at this point, but since he already made his thoughts known publicly, it might also increase the chances of it to happen. Should there be co-MVPs, it will be the first time in the NBA's history that two players will be lifting the Maurice Podoloff Trophy at the same time.
