Wednesday night turned out to be a forgettable one for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Not only were they blown out by 39 points courtesy of the Houston Rockets, but their starting point guard, D’Angelo Russell, also had himself a terrible game. The Ohio State product’s performance was part of the reason his team lost by a huge margin and even matched an infamous record set 10 years ago.
D'Angelo Russell is the first player to foul out, have more turnovers than fouls, and fewer points than fouls since Josh Smith in 2007.

In 25 minutes of action, Russell scored five points, on 2-of-10 shooting, two rebounds, two assists, two assists, with seven turnovers. before fouling out.
That has been the story of his production this season as he has failed to find consistency in his game. With only 14 games left on their schedule, the Lakers can now take comfort in the fact that their long season will soon come to an end.
As a consolation from their misery, more losses would give the Lakers a better shot at keeping their lottery pick in this year’s draft.
