The Summer League serves as an opportunity for rising stars to prove their worth. Josh Hart of the Los Angeles Lakers is aware of the stakes at hand and he's not wasting any minute.

In an article by Ohm Youngmisuk for ESPN, Hart made it clear that he wants to dominate in the Summer League. He laid out his specific plans. For him, dominating doesn't necessarily mean dropping 30 a game. For the 23-year-old, it's about showing relative improvement.

“I want to dominate [at summer league but] that doesn't mean I have to go out there and score 30 points every time. I can go out there and have 15 points, 10 rebounds and five or six assists and some steals. It is not just about scoring but going out there and showing the team and front office that I am improving and capable of taking the next step.”

He also shared his blueprint on the defensive end of the court — an area he's known for.

“I was a solid defender this year but next year being able to guard smaller, quicker guys, those types of things are the main emphasis for me this summer.”

Hart was the 30th pick in last year's NBA Draft. In 63 games with the Lakers, he logged in 7.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 23.2 minutes per game.

Head coach Luke Walton even commended him before for his rebounding ability, via Matthew Moreno of Lakers Nation:

“You never know what it’s going to translate to the pros when you’re talking about these grown men you’re playing against, but obviously with him, the way he goes after those balls, he’s a very, very good rebounder. He’s definitely one of our team’s best rebounders.”
