It’s fun to be a Los Angeles Lakers fan again. Irrespective of the degree of warmth Lakers fans have towards LeBron James, that does not diminish in any way the general assumption that Los Angeles is going to be multi-folds better than they were at any point of the past few seasons.

James’ addition to the Lakeshow eases the pain from the sting of Paul George’s decision to stay in Oklahoma City instead of signing with the Lakers and sweetens the bitter taste left in Los Angeles’ mouth by the seemingly unworkable trade with the San Antonio Spurs that could bring Kawhi Leonard to Hollywood.

Although trading for Leonard remains a possibility, the Lakers, according to Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders, would rather have a wait-and-see approach on how the Lakers will do with James as the team’s anchor before pursuing any major trades or free agents in the future.

From conversations I've had with people in and around the team, Lakers really eager to see what they have with LeBron and their kids – and are looking forward to adding one of the many stars available in 2019 FA (including Kawhi or Jimmy or KD or Klay or Kemba or Kyrie, etc.)

It’s not just the young guys that will have to gel with James this season. The Lakers have signed veterans JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo, and Lance Stephenson in order to provide the team and surround its youngsters with experience.

The Lakers finished last season with a 35-47 record while also missing the boat to the playoffs. With or without additional superstar help, James is expected to transform his new team into a legitimate title contender, starting in the 2018-19 campaign.
