The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to sign free-agent Lance Stephenson, as league sources told Shams Charania of The Vertical.

While contract details were not reported, it's worthy to note that the Pelicans have a full roster of guaranteed contracts, so they would have to move a player via trade or waiver in order to make room for Stephenson.

The 6-foot-5 guard/forward hybrid had previously contemplated playing overseas if there wasn't interest from the NBA.

The 26-year-old Brooklyn native could potentially start at the two or three-spot due to the absence of Jrue Holiday as he deals with the care of his wife and child.

Stephenson last played for the Memphis Grizzlies, making 26 appearances and posting averages of 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 47.4-percent from the field.
