Instead of taking the challenge head on, Ball smartly deflected, saying his would-be opponent didn’t really want to play him.

While the comments come off nonchalant, most would be hard-pressed to say Sir Charles wants more press, given that he’s on TV twice a week on TNT as well as making appearances on different shows very often.
This is likely not the end of the feud between these two loud-mouthed personalities, but as far as knockout punches, Barkley was first to strike and he did so right where it hurts the most. Right on the stats.
